Cashier (Bistro)

The Bistro cashier requires candidates who can handle monetary transactions in a fast paced environment. Candidates for this position must be personable, with a talent for administering customer service. Bistro cashiers manage all monetary exchanges in the Bistro by taking orders and ringing up transactions, serve as a liaison between the customer, the managerial staff and the cooks, and keep the front area of the restaurant clean and well stocked.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Bistro Cashier
  • Greets all customers politely when they enter the Bistro
  • Records customer orders
  • Transfers orders to the cook to ensure their preparation
  • Monitors orders and ensures their prompt delivery to customer
  • Sets up Coffee Orders To Go when needed
  • Up-sells when applicable
  • Listens to and resolves customer complaints, suggestions, and inquiries
  • Keeps the counter and dining area neat and clean
  • Restocks supplies at station they are assigned to
  • Alerts Bistro supervising manager when stock items are low
  • Takes money from customers and provides correct change
  • Processes credit card transactions
  • Keeps track of a cash drawer and ensures it is balanced at the end of the shift
  • Cleans entire station including glass
  • May be asked to assist other team members to complete tasks in a timely manner

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Entering orders on the POS System
  • Can follow directions and achieve goals
  • Demonstrates strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Is able to communicate effectively to a variety of clientele

Education and Experience
  • Prior experience in food service
  • Sales experience
  • Customer service experience
