Camp Counselor/Floater Teacher (Calvary Christian School, part-time),  $16 per hour

Our summer Camp Counselor brings warmth, patience, and understanding to their rooms every day, encouraging children to learn and grow. They are committed to making our center successful and know that creating meaningful relationships with children, families, and their team plays a crucial role in that success.

The Camp Counselor is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing Christian environment with engaging activities to stimulate the school-ager attention. Continue providing enrichment programs to stimulate the school-ager of summer break. Create age-appropriate activities following the themes of the summer camp activities. Create daily camp counselors schedules, attend office campus field trips, adhere to the counselors’ expectations and guidelines.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Cooperate with the Director and Executive Team in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the Summer Camp.  
  • Establish and maintain a developmentally appropriate environment that supports the growth and development of school-agers.
  • Plan and conduct developmentally appropriate daily activities for children.
  • Turn in written attendance sheets according to the schedule established.
  • Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior.
  • Be responsible for written communication to parents; notes, newsletters, and establish a safe and healthy nurturing environment for children.
  • Supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
  • Display teaching excellence for other staff; role model, share professional and technical information.
  • Establish/follow feeding schedules and procedures as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered camp.
  • Maintain regular and accurate attendance records.
  • Keep parents and administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, and administration.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled devotional, in-service, faculty, and parent meetings.
  • Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.
  • Inform the Director/Executive Team in a timely manner if unable to fulfill any duty assigned.
  • Responsible for supervising and managing daily operations of the camp location.
  • Ensure children are properly supervised at all times and appropriate staff to student ratios are maintained.
  • Collaborate with the staff to bring purposeful, creative work to the camp.
  • Track inventory of program supplies and coordinate with COO to order any necessary supplies for programming.
  • Support Camp Counselors in effectively delivering content through feedback and coaching.
  • Implement appropriate activities in accordance with established program goals and quality standard at Children’s Learning Center (CLC).
  • Work with various organizations and groups to implement assigned programs.
  • Assemble supplies and set-up and take-down of equipment, tables, and chairs as needed.
  • Ensures facilities, equipment, and play areas are in a clean, safe, and satisfactory fashion.
  • Supervise and coordinate a variety of recreation and social events/programs (including community field trips and other camp-related activities and projects).
  • Inform parents/guardians of important information regarding their children and upcoming events.
  • Maintain accurate written on a daily basis for the camp including data related to registration, attendance, safety, and activity records.
  • Maintains discipline at the facility, enforces rules and regulations, and completes incident reports. exiting.
  • Renders routine first aid as necessary.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • When driving the Calvary bus adheres to all of the traffic laws and regulations. When boarding the bus check that every child is accounted for. When exiting the bus check if all children have been accounted for.

Education and Experience
  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education

Floater Teacher Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Create a fun, safe, and engaging summer camp program
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment
  • Include enrichment activities, throughout the summer camp program.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work to their team
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
  • Assist camp counselors with camp projects
  • Keep updated with developments in a subject area, teaching resources, and methods and make relevant changes to instructional plans and activities

Floater Teacher Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Relevant teaching experience
