Youth Pastor: High School Youth Pastor (Grades 9-12)

The Youth Pastor is responsible for connecting high school students to Jesus, God’s word and Calvary Church. They will connect with unchurched students and provide next steps for them to grow spiritually as well as provide a place for students following Christ to be equipped and grow in their faith.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Ensure all students have access to quality small group experiences where life-change can happen. The goal is for every student to be connected relationally with a spiritual leader.
  • Plan and execute programming that facilitates community and spiritual growth
  • Create fun opportunities for students to gather together
  • Make services and events inviting for students to want to be there
  • Develop and pour into leaders who will, in turn, develop and pour into leaders and students. 
  • Integrate students into the larger church (attending services, participating in service projects, and serving in other areas of Calvary Youth and the church).
  • Utilize all forms of Media to inspire and engage students
  • Create a strategy to meet students where they are
  • Create an inviting atmosphere that captures students the moment they walk in
  • Teach and preach for Calvary youth services.
  • Plan out a pre-service experience that feels intentional
  • Create moments of community and laughter
  • Utilize Planning Center to build services with a clear direction
  • Oversee Biblical, relevant and inspiring preaching in high school services/group settings
  • Incorporate students into service elements (worship, ushering, presenting, praying, etc.)
  • Coordinate with various staff members to help students know how to serve and share their faith
  • Oversee giving and offering as a way for students to live out their faith
  • Lead high school students to impact the local schools, and build relationships and partnerships within the community

Attendance
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential component of every job.
  • Keep regular office hours.
  • Be actively involved in implementing Calvary Church’s values
  • Serve faithfully as Pastor on Call.
  • Fulfill all duties as outlined in the Attendance Policy

  • Deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • If married, a good family person (as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 2:1-10, Ephesians 5:21-6:4, Colossians 3:18-21. et al)
  • Proven call to ministry.
  • Effective communication skills – from one-on-one to small groups to large groups.
  • Has emotional intelligence and humility.
  • Is a high-capacity worker who empowers their team, not controls or micromanages.
  • Effective at promoting important messages and activities.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Able to manage multiple schedules and projects, and discern work priorities without extensive need of immediate supervision. 
  • Good team person and comfortable collaborating with peers.
  • Effective leader of volunteers.
  • Skilled in the use of Personal Computers, especially with MS Office programs (especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Excellent grammar skills.
  • Exhibits a teachable spirit and a servant’s heart.
  • Have a “Servant's Heart” and be a people person.
  • Is highly organized, with the ability to troubleshoot and create processes and systems, with a strong eye for detail.
  • Must know how to engage with social media and technology.
  • Must be creative and be able to communicate in creative ways.
  • Must have the energy to be able to minister and hang out with young people. 

Education and Experience
  • Degree
  • Ministerial credentials, Pentecostal by theology and practice
  • Good teacher of ministry-related skills
  • Proven track record for volunteer recruiting, management, and motivation
  • Experience managing administrative staff
  • Youth Ministry Training
  • 5 years on the job training working with a youth group of over 100
