Liturgical
Service

Same gospel. Different expression.

We’re introducing a new reflective service at Calvary — Sundays at 8 a.m. weekly.

Begins May 24th

Our liturgical service is a sacred time of worship centered on the Word of God, reflection, prayer, and communion — creating space to slow down, listen, and encounter God through a steady, intentional rhythm.

Simply put, this is a different expression of the same faith!

Rooted in the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit moves in many ways — both in powerful moments and in quiet, attentive ones.

Launching this service on Pentecost Sunday is intentional. It’s a reminder that the same Spirit who has been at work since the early Church is still moving today in many different expressions.

Rooted in the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit moves in many ways — both in powerful moments and in quiet, attentive ones.

What to Expect

Our liturgical service is a one-hour Sunday gathering with a reflective flow and tone.

You can expect:
  • A strong focus on Scripture
  • Corporate prayers and moments of reflection
  • Intentional space for listening
  • Weekly Communion
  • A shorter, focused message
  • A calm, structured rhythm from beginning to end

Who This is For

This service may be a great fit if you’re looking for:
  • A quiet, reflective church environment
  • A slow pace and consistent rhythm
  • A deep focus on Scripture, prayer, and Communion

This won’t be everyone’s preferred style, and that’s okay. It’s one expression within our church—alongside our other Sunday services.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What does "liturgical" mean?
“Liturgical” simply refers to the structure of a worship service (every service has one!). Calling this liturgical means that we're sharing the liturgy with every participant. It’s a way of shaping a service so that it’s intentional, participatory, and rooted in practices Christians have used for generations.
Is liturgy worship?
Yes! Liturgy is simply the “work of the people.” A liturgical service is a deeply participatory form of worship where the congregation engages together through responsive readings, corporate prayer, and weekly communion. It is a beautiful, age-old way to worship God.
What does “high church” mean, and is this service considered high church?
“High church” is a term often used to describe services that emphasize formal rituals, ancient traditions, and sacraments like weekly communion. While our liturgical service incorporates many of these beautiful, historic practices – like a printed order of service and reflective hymns – it remains warmly accessible and deeply rooted in our church’s broader mission.
Is this replacing our other services?
No. Our liturgical service is in addition to our other services — another way to gather on Sundays.
Will it be Pentecostal?
Yes — just expressed differently. We believe the Holy Spirit moves in many ways, including reflective moments and shared liturgies that connect with the body of Christ all over the world. This service creates space for that kind of encounter.
Will there be music?
Yes. It will be simple and reflective in style (acoustic, hymns, or minimal instrumentation).
Do you offer childcare during this service?
Because this service is designed for those who are able to engage in a quieter, more focused environment, we do not offer childcare for our liturgical service. We offer full childcare and a vibrant children’s ministry during our Sunday services at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Do I have to participate out loud?
There is no pressure to participate out loud! While this service is designed to be engaging and participatory, you are always welcome to simply receive. You’re free to engage at your comfort level. Wherever you are on your journey, there is room for you here.
