Too Blessed to Be Stressed, Part 2

Aug 30, 2026  •  Pastor Marty Sloan

Life has a way of piling up trouble faster than we can carry it — loss, uncertainty, the daily grind of "what will I eat, what will I wear, how will this work out?" In Part 2 of Too Blessed to Be Stressed, we return to Job, a man who lost nearly everything in a single day and still fell to the ground in worship rather than despair. His response — "The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised" — raises a harder question than "why is this happening to me": who, or what, are we letting rule over our troubles? Building on Part 1, we walk through a chain of promises meant to loosen stress's grip — God as our ever-present refuge, the peace that comes from a steadfast mind, and provision for every need according to His riches in Christ. The invitation isn't to pretend hard things aren't hard, but to trade self-reliant striving for trust — leaning not on our own understanding, seeking first His kingdom, and letting today's trouble stay in today. Too blessed to be stressed isn't a denial of hardship; it's a decision about who holds it.
