A Miracle 15 Years in the Making

Chip's Story

March 1, 2026, marked the one-year anniversary of my personal miracle. My story started in 2010. Due to a medical condition caused by nerve damage, I could not empty my bladder normally. My urinary sphincter valve was paralyzed in a tightly closed position.
This condition was the result of nerve damage from an earlier severe back injury. I had an exploded disc in my back, and pieces of it were embedded in my spinal cord. Surgery repaired my back, but the nerve damage was done. The only solution was to begin using catheters.

Since March 1 of 2010, I have had to insert a catheter five or six times every day to empty my bladder. I could never go anywhere without a supply of catheters. Doing the self-cath procedure at home became routine, but it was quite awkward in public restrooms.

Over the next 15 years, I saw many doctors and underwent two surgeries. The fact is that there was and is no cure for my urinary condition. I wondered how I would deal with this in my old age if I ever became incapable of doing the procedure myself. I prayed often for God to heal me.

I never stopped believing in the God I had given my life to in my 20s. I said, “God, this is in your hands.” I sometimes worried about the future, but I never became angry or lost hope. I always believed that God would take care of me no matter what happened or what the situation.

Occasionally, I tried to urinate normally but always had to resort to a catheter. That changed in 2025. On February 28, I used catheters five times during that day. The next day, not once! Since March 1, 2025, I have not had to use catheters at all. I saw my urologist a few months later, and he was amazed. God chose to heal me through his miracle-working power.

That summer, I took all of my catheter supplies and threw them away. One thing that over half a dozen doctors, two surgeries, and 15 years proved to me was that God is the only one responsible for my healing.

I often tell people who are hurting this: If you have the Holy Spirit living in you, then God doesn’t just know about your pain—He feels it. The Holy Spirit living in you feels what you feel, therefore God feels it. God not only sees the tears you cry on the outside; He knows the tears you cry on the inside. He is not distant. He feels what you feel. And He is always there.
At Calvary Church, our mission is to see lives transformed by the power of God. If God has transformed your life, share your story here.
