The After School Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all After School Programs. Our programs provide a safe, nurturing Christian environment with engaging activities to stimulate the school-ager attention. Coordinator will train and oversee school-age teachers, lesson plans, and work in the classroom as needed. Coordinator will ensure teachers create age-appropriate activities following the themes of the Kids Club activities. Coordinator is responsible for creating teacher schedules, communicating with parents, and providing ongoing support for teachers and students.

Our After School Coordinator brings warmth, patience, and understanding and encourages children to learn and grow. They are committed to making our center successful and know that creating meaningful relationships with children, families, and their team plays a crucial role in that success.

This position is part time, but has potential to become full time.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Cooperate with the Director and Executive Team in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the after school program.
  • Assist teachers in planning and conducting developmentally appropriate daily activities for children.
  • Turn in written attendance sheets according to the schedule established.
  • Observe, record, and report significant individual and group behavior.
  • Be responsible for written communication to parents via notes and newsletters.
  • Establish a safe and healthy nurturing after school environment for children.
  • Supervise children by sight and sound at all times.
  • Display teaching excellence for other staff; role model, share professional and technical information.
  • Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered after school program.
  • Plan a program as required by the Illinois Dept. of Children and Family Services licensing standards.
  • Maintain regular and accurate attendance records.
  • Keep parents and administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies.
  • Staff accordingly, ensuring all breaks and meals are taken in a timely manner.
  • Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, and administration.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled devotional, in-service, faculty, and parent meetings.
  • Know the procedures for dealing with issues of an emergency nature.

  • Responsible for supervising and managing daily operations of the after school programs.
  • Ensure children are properly supervised at all times and appropriate staff to student ratios are maintained.
  • Track inventory of program supplies and coordinate with the Director to order any necessary supplies for programming.
  • Support School-age teachers in effectively delivering content through feedback and coaching.
  • Renders routine first aid as necessary.

Education and Experience
  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience, as documented in three written references

Relationships
Coordinator will oversee After School Teachers and work under the direction of the Preschool Director
