Let's look toward Resurrection together.

We would love for you to join us in prayer and fasting as we head towards Resurrection Weekend! You can find our scripture lead guide below.

Why are we doing this?

The Lent Season meets Holy Week beginning Palm Sunday (April 13), and we invite you to pray the scriptures each day of this week! Many also take the week to fast along with praying. If you have not already begun fasting, we encourage you to try it for this week. Fasting is simply abstaining from something (it doesn’t have to be food) that brings you comfort or contentment and, instead, spending time with God every time you yearn for those things.

Praying the Scripture

We encourage you to go through the process of Lectio Divina (divine reading.) This is the Christian practice of "praying" scripture in four steps. This is not Bible study (although Bible study is also vital), but more like Bible encounter and meditative prayer. You can use this way of praying scripture in these four steps even after this remembrance and celebration of Holy Week! Give it a try and see how God speaks to you.

Read (Lectio): Read the passage slowly out loud once, twice or more to hear the words of scripture.
Reflect (Meditatio): Meditate on the words or phrases that stand out and consider their meaning.
Respond (Oratio): Pray and offer your thoughts, feelings, worship and needs to God in line with his word.
Rest (Contemplatio): Sit silently with God and allow his word and his spirit to speak or simply be present.
