Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Back-to-School Sunday for?
Everyone is welcome! Whether you're a student, parent, grandparent, educator, or simply want to support the next generation, we'd love for you to join us.
Why do you pray over students and educators?
A new school year brings new opportunities, new relationships, and new challenges. At Calvary, we believe one of the best ways to begin the year is by asking God to guide and strengthen the people who will learn, teach, and lead throughout the months ahead. Our annual Back-to-School Sunday is a chance for our church family to encourage students, educators, and families as they step into a new season.
Do I need to be a member of Calvary Church to come?
Not at all. Back-to-School Sunday is open to everyone in our community. We'd love to have you, whether it's your first visit or you've attended for years.
What happens during the service?
Our service include music/worship and a sermon from our lead pastor, Marty Sloan. We’ll also take a special moment to pray a blessing over students and educators as they prepare for the new school year. We'll ask God to give them wisdom, courage, strength, and peace in the year ahead. All students will join adults in the main auditorium for this portion of the service.
Who can visit the VIP Educator Lounge?
Anyone who works in education is invited. Whether you're a teacher, administrator, paraprofessional, coach, bus driver, counselor, office staff member, custodian, cafeteria worker, or support staff, we'd love to celebrate you.
