The Dean of Students/Athletic Director maintains a positive, safe, and orderly campus for all 6th - 8th-grade students, staff, families, and visitors. The Athletic Director coordinates and manages the athletic-related functions for Calvary Christian School, including planning, organizing, and managing the employees and coaches within the Athletics Department.

The Athletic Director is committed to fulfilling our mission within our community of students and families through developing and implementing a robust athletics program for 5th - 8th grades and developing an intramural program for elementary grades. The athletic program provides student-athletes with a quality sports experience in a whole-life learning and Biblically integrated environment. The role also includes all aspects of teaching, classroom management, and student/parent interactions.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities of Junior High Dean of Students
  • Creates an environment where adolescents from diverse backgrounds are comfortable and experience success 
  • Responsible for creating, communicating, and enforcing school policies and procedures, which foster a culture of honor
  • Investigate situations where school policies are not followed
  • Contact parents and make decisions regarding disciplinary actions and consequences.
  • Follows through on discipline and tracks all incidents and discipline in the school data system (FACTS)
  • Responsible for enforcing school dress code
  • Understand Google Classroom and able to teach a class as needed
  • Counsels students and conferences with parents when a student is not meeting school expectations
  • Collaborate with the K-8 Principal to address students' social, emotional, and academic needs
  • Ensure all student-based programming and community events are well-organized and aligned with our values, mission, and identity as Calvary Church/Calvary Christian School
  • Collaborate to ensure entry, academic, and exit programs best support students and families. This includes but is not limited to working with Enrollment Management; ensuring the smooth transition of students from middle to high school; collaborating to ensure students are academically informed and appropriately placed; and completing administrative recommendations for high school applications
  • Actively monitor hallways and common areas during free periods and after school and is responsible for enlisting students to help maintain the cleanliness and organization of the campus
  • Attend and lead relevant Parent & Family events such as Coffee Hours, Connect & Talks, grade-level, and division-wide student-centered sessions
  • Works closely with the counselors, nurses, Academic Services, Grade Level Team Leaders in providing programming and restorative practices to ensure mission and values are upheld
  • Oversees student detentions
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities of Athletic Director
  • Manage all aspects of the athletic department with integrity, professionalism, and an intentional mission focus
  • Manage athletic budgeting and fundraising
  • Manage an administrative leadership team within the athletic department
  • Proactively communicate and respond on behalf of the school utilizing objective, professional, and mission-supported interpersonal skills
  • Create and maintain an athletic administrative structure that strives for early fundamental skill development and a passion/love of the game
  • Ensure compliance with all school, division, and government regulations
  • Manage and uphold standards for academics, sportsmanship, and respect for student-athletes and coaches
  • Manage each sport and coach equitably
  • Act as an administrative liaison to Calvary Church Sports
  • Evaluate and update Sports policies and guidelines
  • Provide consistent, proactive, and strategic insight to Administration regarding the athletic program (staffing, communication, safety, facilities, vision, budget, and training)
  • Build community and media relations for CCS Athletics

ADMINISTRATIVE OVERSIGHT
  • Athletic budget and all athletic-related finances and fundraising
  • Athletic handbook(s) management and proactive communication
  • Game officials scheduling, hosting, and accountability
  • Conference and State recognition compliance, representation, and management
  • Facility reservation management
  • Social Media presence and promotion for sports, coaches, and athletes
  • Athlete mentoring and discipleship program
  • Coaches professional development, mentoring, and discipleship program
  • Proactive cycle of continuous maintenance and improvement of CCS’s athletic programming and facilities
  • Athlete academic and behavior oversight and management in partnership with Administration and school policies
  • Inventory of all athletic equipment and uniforms
  • Athletic equipment storage
  • Evaluation of all athletic facilities and equipment on an annual basis with recommendations to the administration regarding maintenance, capital improvements, and purchasing
  • Game administrator scheduling, management, and timely communication
  • Personnel for all games (officials, scorekeepers, announcers, security, etc.)
  • Practice schedules and locations communication promptly, and management of conflicts as necessary
  • Strategic opportunities for programs/camps
  • Management for all programs/camps

  • Gym/field set up and breakdown assignments and management for all athletic events
  • Transportation of student-athletes for sporting events with volunteer drivers

  • Strength & Conditioning and Wellness academic program management and liaison

PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
  • Delegate and manage proactively and appropriately so the Athletic Director can fully fulfill administrative responsibilities and program vision and development
  • Ensure that all athletic positions have a clear job description that is communicated in advance and formally evaluated by these standards annually, and as needed
  • Create and conduct a comprehensive evaluation process for all coaches with timely analysis and feedback to promote ministry and professional growth and development
  • In collaboration with the Administration, oversee the hiring and firing of all coaches according to CCS’s mission and expected standards of conduct, performance, and compliance
  • Identify and provide needed, adequate, and consistent training for coaches - professional development should focus on promoting professionalism, integrity, mission focus, as well as knowledge and expertise of their specific sport(s)
  • Manage staff and coaches to perform tasks respectfully according to the school’s mission and policies

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or above in education or a related field
  • 2+ years working in education as an educator or 4+ years working in a field related to the position’s job responsibilities
  • Computer proficiency: Google Suite, Microsoft,
  • Budget management experience
  • Fundraising experience preferred
