Maintenance Worker

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing diversified duties related to building upkeep and minor repairs.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Interior maintenance such as light bulb and ceiling tile replacement.
  • Prepping signs with grommets and hanging.
  • Assembly of desks, chairs, shelves and other office furniture.
  • Hanging shelves, televisions, wall boards.
  • Basic landscaping, planting, mulching, watering.
  • Moving and assisting in transportation of furniture and equipment.
  • Minor assistance in construction projects; removal of construction debris.
  • Assist with loading donations onto transport vehicles.
  • Set up and tear down of festivals and other major events.
  • Clean and gas up vehicles as necessary.
  • Salting walkways and snow removal.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.

Key Competencies
  • Work varying shifts, weekends and holidays.
  • Work extended hours outside in varying weather conditions.
  • Perform heavy manual labor.
  • Operate various types of tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to climb ladders, operate and use “genie lift” to full capacity (We will train)
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Education and Experience
  • No previous experience required.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license required

Physical Demands
Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
