Position Summary:
The Church Nursery Director is responsible for overseeing the operations and administration of the church nursery, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and spiritually enriching environment for young children (typically ages 3 months - 3 yrs) during church services and events. This role includes recruiting, training, \ managing nursery volunteers, assist with the coordination of nursery programs, and maintaining compliance with all safety and health regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the development and implementation of nursery programs that provide age-appropriate spiritual development and care.
  • Organize activities and curriculum that engage young children and introduce them to biblical concepts.
  • Ensure the nursery is a welcoming and inclusive environment for all children and their families.
  • Recruit, train, and schedule nursery volunteers.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on childcare best practices, safety protocols, and church policies.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized nursery environment.
  • Implement and enforce health and safety policies, including child check-in/check-out procedures and emergency protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with all local and state regulations regarding childcare and safety.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers, addressing any concerns and providing updates on their children's activities.
  • Collaborate with other church staff and ministry leaders to integrate nursery programs with broader church activities and events.
  • Attend staff meetings and contribute to the planning and execution of church-wide initiatives.
  • Manage the nursery budget, including purchasing supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, incident reports, and other necessary documentation.
  • Help develop and update nursery policies and procedures as needed.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry children and nursery equipment as needed.
  • Stamina to stand, walk, and engage in active play with children for extended periods.

Education and Experience:
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish)– highly preferred skill.
  • Knowledge of basic computer programs including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the church’s mission and values.
  • Experience in early childhood education, childcare, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in a church or nonprofit setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, parents, volunteers, and church staff.
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
