The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This position will require an employee to be able to be seated at a computer for eight-hour work days. In the case of video shoots, the employee needs to be able to lift and/or transport up to 40 pounds and be able to set up equipment weighing up to 20 pounds and may be required to be able to work on hands and knees to run cables, etc. Good sight and hearing are necessary for all aspects of this job.
The purpose of the Video Production Director is to provide vision, direction, and oversight for all video content at Calvary Church.
Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities
- Develop video concepts that communicate the heart and vision of Calvary in a clear and creative way.
- Direct and guide all phases of video projects from planning through completion.
- Function as lead cinematographer on shoots and lead editor in post-production, setting the tone and style for other team members.
- Lead the video team to be healthy, efficient, and effective.
- Recruit, develop, and coach video team volunteers.
- Oversee all related equipment purchasing, organization, and maintenance.
Key Competencies
- Experience and proficiency with video production, including editing, lighting, videography, audio, locations, direction of talent, and motion graphics
- Excellent storytelling ability, with a passion for saying something more than just making something
- A strong knowledge of current filmmaking tools and techniques including cameras, lenses, lighting, grip and other related gear
- Experience building and managing teams
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- The desire to continually learn, develop, and push the boundaries of creativity
- The ability to prioritize, multi-task, and manage details in a fast-paced environment to hit deadlines in an organized way
- A heart for the Church and drive to advance Calvary's specific vision
- A love of teamwork and collaboration, with a willingness to give and receive candid feedback
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- 3-5 years of experience leading a team
