Children's Pastor

The purpose of the Children’s Pastor is to build the teams that will carry out the vision of the children’s ministry in a way that helps people know God, find Freedom, discover purpose, and make a difference.

Main Responsibilities
  •  Set the Vision of Children’s Ministry
    • Pray, plan, and work to align children’s ministry vision and mission to follow the overall vision of Calvary Church
  • Build the Teams
    • Build the staff and volunteers teams that will carry out the ministry
    • Build volunteer coaches
    • Develop teams around the coaches
    • Develop the Staff to properly support and invest in the volunteer teams
    • Maintain a working leadership pipeline that invests in future leaders
  • Create and Manage Ministry Opportunities
    • Develop ministry services, events, and outings that will effectively minister to kids and families
    • Oversee ministry that helps kids know God
    • Build small group experiences that help kids find freedom
    • Develop programs to help kids discover their purpose
    • Work with the Outreach department to give kids a chance to make a difference
  • Coordinate Follow-up
    • Work with staff, data, and records to find ways to properly follow up with visiting kids and families, while also tracking and supporting regular attendance
  • Oversee Budget and Calendar
    • Oversee the budget and calendar of Children’s ministry to assure proper stewardship of time and finances
  • Support Calvary Vision and Events
    • Be an advocate for Calvary vision by supporting and promoting leadership
    • Serve at and support Calvary events at a pastoral level
  • Ministering to Families
    • Pray and encourage families in their life journey

Key Competencies
  • Deep and personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • If married, a good family person (as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-13, Titus 2:1-10, Ephesians 5:21-6:4, Colossians 3:18-21. et al)
  • Proven call to ministry
  • Effective communication skills – from one-on-one to small groups to large groups
  • Effective at promoting important messages and activities
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills
  • Able to manage multiple schedules and projects, and discern work priorities without extensive need of immediate supervision
  • Good team person and comfortable collaborating with peers
  • Effective leader of volunteers
  • Skilled in the use of Personal Computers, especially with MS Office programs (especially Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Experience with programs designed for event planning, project management, and create sharp presentations
  • Excellent grammar skills
  • Exhibits a teachable spirit and a servant’s heart
  • Have a “Servant's Heart” and be a people person
  • Knowledgeable of and experienced in Children’s Ministry with a church of at least 1000 in regular attendance

Attendance
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential component of every job
  • Keep regular office hours
  • Serve faithfully as Pastor on Call
  • Fulfill all duties as outlined in the Attendance Policy

Education and Experience
  • Higher Education Degree
  • Ministerial credentials, Pentecostal by theology and practice
  • Good teacher of ministry-related skills
  • Proven track record for volunteer recruiting, management, and motivation
  • Able to work effectively with peers in a cross-departmental environment
  • Experience managing administrative staff
