Victory Stories

Because of the January bilingual prayer night service, I now feel free. I knew I was living in sin, I knew I was doing something wrong, but I was making excuses. After the sermon on “honor,” I realized a lot of things about my situation. I saw the extension of my sin; it wasn’t just one sin, it was a long chain. I decided to put a stop to it, and on the spot, I felt peace and then freedom. I love Calvary Church! I know I can pray at home, but my mind start thinking about all the things I have to do. In church, I just concentrate on Him. I am so grateful for that service!

I only recently started going to Calvary, but I am so excited to be here. For the past year, it has been on my heart to learn more about the Holy Spirit. I never really researched the Holy Spirit in the past, but over the past few years, I've been craving more from my walk with the Lord. I have just sensed that there is something more that the Lord wants me to have in my relationship with Him. I've been spending time studying, praying, and journaling what the Lord has been teaching me. I really wanted to start going to a church that isn't afraid to talk about the Holy Spirit, but also does it in a Biblically sound way. I started looking at churches, found Calvary, and felt that this is where I'm supposed to go. This is where I can grow and where I can serve.

A few weeks ago, there was a sermon series on the Holy Spirit. It brought me to tears because the sermon that was preached was everything the Lord has been teaching me over the past year. Last week, I moved just to be closer to this church.

I attended the January Miracle night where my biggest prayer request and burden was for my dad. In every single prayer on Tuesdays or Sundays, I was in tears for my dad that God would redeem him. During the miracle night in January, Pastor Tim prayed for my dad. He prayed such an earnest prayer. My dad was admitted in the hospital a month later, but God still gave me 4 weeks with him and I got to do everything God guided me to do: I prayed beside the hospital bed, read the Word loudly to him, talked so much loving words to him, sang so many songs to him and by this, God restored my dad, and he was taken to eternity with Jesus. I thank every pastor in Calvary who has prayed for my dad in the Tuesday prayers. Glory be to God who chooses to show grace and mercy!

Pastor Michael Escamilla and I prayed for my boss and brother in Christ, Tony, who’d been battling blood cancer and had Stem Cell transplant few months ago. Tony had a bone marrow biopsy previous week and was having PET scan that week. When he got the results from the tests, the bone marrow biopsy and PET scan came back no traces of cancer cells and no need for any more chemo treatments. The stem cell transplant was successful! Thank you, Calvary, for accepting prayer requests and for Tuesday prayer nights. The Calvary family has been praying for Tony since the beginning, and I believe in the power of prayer. The Lord Almighty is so good!
